August 31 - Website Redesign Goes Live
|
 |
|
We rebuilt the main site using spiffier graphics and an improved layout.
We've used the same theme on the subpages, too, although that will probably
change at some point. The Uberspace website
has had its own theme since we put it up, so it stays the same.
Hopefully you'll find it easier to find out what we're about!

August 22 - PixelMonkey in beta |
 |
|
PixelMonkey, our sprite-sheet editor, is now in beta. It's not quite
an open beta, but it's close.
Development on the tool got started over a year ago, but it's been
an internal tool only for that time. We figured we'd put it out there
for other artists and developers to use.
If you're making sprite sheets, or even just editing small-scale
pixel art, you should find PixelMonkey a useful tool. It doesn't have
all the fluff and features in the big paint programs, but that means
it focuses on doing one thing only: sprite sheets. It assumes that you're
going to want to edit down to the pixel, and take careful control over
the colors that you use.
We're using PixelMonkey internally to put together tile sheets for
use in tiled 2D games. If you're making 2D games for mobile or portable
devices, or if you're putting tons of icons into large tile sheets,
PixelMonkey will help.

July 1 - BlackThrone tools finished |
 |
|
BlackThrone
is a 2D retro-style tactical-combat RPG.
We finished off the tools for BlackThrone, which means we've got a
full toolset ready to build content for the game. Our story is written,
the art is 70% complete, and now we're building out the world. Getting
the tools finished is a great milestone because now we're starting to
see a game, a real game, come together out of the ideas and dreams we
had for it.
We're currently building the game engine, and hope to have the game
ready in time for the holiday season.

June 13 - Uberspace Single-Player |
 |
|
Uberspace was originally designed as a multiplayer-only PC game,
something to play with your friends on a LAN or over the internet on
our ranked servers.
We decided to add in a single-player game, something that will
allow players to learn the game and develop their own strategies
before heading out into the wilds of online play -- as well as provide
dozens of hours of offline fun.
Single-player campaigns have added extensively to the technical,
design, and art requirements of the game, however. We're deep in
development of all the extra features that will give Uberspace
broader appeal.
